Thank you Bill. Thank you Russell.
Much better... because this is NOT what ABD is about.
We are here to present our understanding of truth and to reach out to others in LOVE.
Armstrongism DOES NOT REPRESENT GOD.
We have come from there and we all still carry some of that with us (Christians and atheists alike). It's difficult to shed it all when it has been hammered into our heads for a lifetime.
But we need to recognize it when it shows it's ugly head.
We are ALL a team fighting armstrongism. We are Christian. We are atheist. Now lets get back to the business at hand and share some quality friendly debates.

It is important that you understand; Everything on this blog is based on the current understanding of each author. Never take anyone's word for it, always prove it for yourself, it is your responsibility. You cannot ride someone else's coattail into the Kingdom.

Good for you, Seeker. Although I would have liked to see you leave Bill's final post up, with the comments I and others left on it. If for no other reason than to show a well-rounded view of Christianity....warts and all.
ReplyDeleteBut, hey, if you want to hide it under a rock and pretend it didn't happen, that's your prerogative too. Although if I had known you were going to do that, I would have saved a copy of Bill's diatribe, and reprinted it in full on ISA.
Or was that what you were hoping to prevent?
Try as you might, you can't whitewash the painful truth. Even Junior and Weazell are learning that lesson, the hard way.
I agree, Ag. That post would have fit well with your other posts at ISA.
ReplyDeleteAggie,
ReplyDeleteThis has nothing to do with hiding anything. It's a matter of ending an ugly exchange, but if you are so eager to hang on to that, then you will find it is still hanging around in the RSS. Personally, I am not.
It seems to me that you have your back in a corner and are swinging punches at everyone that walks by. We are not enemies, whether you perceive it that way or not. We came from the same background. I am still a believer, you are not.
Just because I prefer green and you prefer blue, does not mean we have to be at war.
I know you can be quite personable.
OK I'm trying to keep my temper here. I'm not calling for war. The only way to move on from the past is to acknowledge it. Not cover it up, and try to pretend it never happened.
ReplyDeleteAnd the post in question is no longer in the RSS feed.
ReplyDeleteThere is a difference between burying and defusing...
ReplyDeleteand fueling and exposing.
I don't want any more fuel on the fire. I want it put out.

ReplyDeleteIt's Seeker's blog. He can do what he wants with it. It's as simple as that.
ReplyDeleteOf course the actual post is still in google cache - but not the follow-up comments.
ReplyDeleteI am all for forgiveness - but not rewriting history.
"There is a difference between burying and defusing...
ReplyDeleteand fueling and exposing."I agree there is a difference between those two things. However, I do not believe that "exposing" is "fueling" anything. By all means, lock the comments. But leave Bill's behaviour, and our responses to it, intact.
It happened. You can try to bury it, and then you can make excuses that you're trying to "defuse" it, when really, all you want to do is hide the fact that a Christian behaved in a manner that is inconsistent with the overarching theology claimed by adherents of the religion.
I guess I've been missing all the fun today. had to pull a transmission. Trying to get a car together for a kid.
ReplyDeleteJust gotta say, as I understand it, seekers had a throbbing headache the last few days and just wants everybody to shut up and go away, probably me included.
Enough!
ReplyDeleteI don't want that kind of stuff on this blog. Bill's post did not get pre-approved and now it is gone.
Yes, I have had a pounding headache for three days, and I want the damned school yard fight taken somewhere else. Sit in front of a fire, crack open a beer and chill.
This is done!
